KRYSTAL WORTHINGTON, OD
Optometrist located in East Brunswick, & Toms River, NJ

Dr. Krystal Worthington has been the Clinical Director for ten years, after completing her optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she earned a clinical excellence citation from The Eye Institute.

Dr. Worthington completed an Advanced Studies Certificate in Anterior Segment, receiving extensive training in the management of dry eye, ocular surface disease, corneal disorders, and post operative management. She was awarded clinical honors in all clinical externships, including with Dr. Witlin at The Witlin Center. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California San Diego, Revelle College, majoring in human biology with an area of focus in Spanish literature.

With extensive experience in pre- and post-operative care of patients undergoing cataract, cornea, and glaucoma surgeries, Dr. Worthington’s area of expertise is preparing patients’ surgical plans to ensure they achieve their post operative goals and best visual outcome. As Director of the Surgical Department, Dr. Worthington ensures patients have access to the latest advances in technology and a smooth process at our surgical centers.

During cataract evaluations patients have the opportunity to discuss their visual needs and goals for cataract surgery, and review the technology and lens options available to them. Working closely with our highly specialized surgeons, Dr. Worthington has guided thousands of patients through surgery and is passionate about helping patients feel confident in their surgical plans.

With specialized training in the LipiView® and LipiFlow® systems, Dr. Worthington heads the Dry Eye Center at the Witlin Center for Advanced Eye Care, where she uses tear testing and analysis to design treatment protocols for each patient’s specific ocular surface condition, and treat these conditions prior to ocular surgery. Suffering from dry eye herself, Dr. Worthington is especially passionate about helping patients find relief from their symptoms.

Dr. Worthington has worked exclusively in surgical ophthalmology since completing optometry school, focusing on pre- and post-operative management of cataract surgeries including laser assisted surgeries, toric and multifocal lenses, and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). She’s a member of the American Optometric Association, the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

When not in the office, Dr. Worthington enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and three children.
