Dr. Caroline Zakhary received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University majoring in biological studies. She completed her doctorate degree at the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she graduated Valedictorian of her optometry class.
During her training, Dr. Zakhary completed a clinical rotation at Vision Care And Surgery Associates in Miami, Florida, where she was trained in advanced dry eye therapies.
After her time at Nova, she completed a residency at Bay Pines Veterans Affairs in Primary Eyecare with emphasis in Ocular DIsease, Low Vision and medically necessary hard contact lenses.
While her time in residency, Dr. Zakhary has had extensive training in postoperative management of cataract surgeries including toric and multifocal lenses, as well as the medical management of anterior and posterior ocular diseases such as ocular surface disease, corneal disorders, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
She’s a member of the American Optometric Association.
When not in the office, Dr. Zakhary enjoys volunteering at her church, going on medical mission trips, spending time at the beach and traveling.
